Star Wars: Galaxies

I'm curious. Have any of you played this game?

What are your thoughts on it?

I'm a old school SWG player before the downfall of SOE stupidness. Played the game for years before that though.

I remember watching a youtube video of hitler spazzing over the SWG changes. Were they really that bad?

There were many changes but i'll point out a obvious one to many ex SWG players. There were tons of classes and roles when SWG came out, each detailed and took hours of play time. Jedi wasn't a default role but had to be earned through hours of playtime and quests. I remember doing the quests for hours and hours(not anything to look at as bad). That day comes when you finally earn you light saber, and what did SOE do? Slashed the amount of classes in probably more than 1/2. In the end I believe there was 9 classes, one of them being jedi. They pretty much made the game that was a challege, and made it so more "beginners" could play.

Well in terms of numbers, that's simply uncountable. But I'll tell you that all of the most populated areas (Dantooine, MO), (Theed), and Corellia were basically 100% abandoned; the community died a horrible death.

That sucks. I've experienced something similar with online games. Never fun, especially if you still enjoy the game.

aye it was a huge grind. I had to master 30 of the 32 classes(elite classes) to unlock my jedi.

i lived through the initial combat review which was the initial death for the game. it didn't help that the combat review came as WoW was released. the 2nd combat review actually made the game very good. the only problem was you were lucky to see another player online making raiding impossible. the crafting system was also in my opinion a good model that needed some tweeking. unlike wow where it was just boring old add a to b to get c.

then they did the class cull and the jedi from the start etc and it became jedi galaxies mainly.

was sad to see a game with such potential die especially for a star wars fanboy.
